Thursday night we had a meeting. Here are some of the details:
- Spring practice went well for the most part. We are saddened by the one injury we had, but overall practice went well.
- The field house is under construction, as are other facility improvements! We are excited! Please be in prayer for its continual progress!
- Summer workouts will begin Tuesday, May 29. Workouts will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 until 8:00 for the summer. Players need to wear workout clothes and running (tennis) shoes. Cleats are not necessary at this point. Drop off and pick up will be at the back door of the school (front door if the fence gates are locked). We understand about vacations, ball games, mission trips, and camps conflicting with workouts, but we expect to be communicated with in regards to these events. We want kids at workouts if it is possible to be there! We will also offer additional practice or drill sessions periodically. A calendar is in the works to communicate those dates.
- Official season practice is slated to begin July 30.
- We would like to elect a leadership team for our parent booster club. We need everyone at meetings so we can do this.........you never know, you might be elected if you aren't there! Seriously, we would like everyone present at the meetings if possible, and we do want to tackle electing officers soon. We have not scheduled the next meeting yet, but look for communications on it soon.
The rest of the meeting was dedicated to the upcoming fundraiser. Here are those details:
We will host a video game tournament on July 10, 2012 at RCA using the released on that day NCAA 2013 Football game for XBox 360 game consoles.
The goal is to raise funds in three ways, 1) Tournament registration fee of $25 by June 15, $30 by June 25 (which gets participants into the double elimination tournament and a tee-shirt); 2) Concessions sales during the day long event; and 3) Sponsorships from community or businesses.
We know that we will be able to reserve copies of the game from Gamestop to have for the tournament. We have a few that have volunteered the use of their gaming consoles and controllers for the tournament, but need a few more and we need some TV's to use.
I think we have prizes sewn up (32" TV for the winner, registration fee paid out to the runner-up, a copy of the game to each of the final four). That game is a $60 value itself!
We still need door prizes and sponsorships. We are asking every family to account for a door prize. The idea here is to keep participants at the tournament all day. We would like to give a door prize away every hour or so and the winners have to be there to claim their door prize. A suggested door prize value of $15 to $25 is what we are after, though this is just a guideline. This can be on a personal donation or a donation from a business, a gift card to be given as a door prize, or another item that would be appropriate for our contestants. Use your best judgement!
Sponsorships will be rewarded with advertisement on the Tee-shirts, signs or fliers, names mentioned at the tournament, logos shown on the screens before game play (if that's possible), etc. We decided on different levels of sponsorships. Up to $25 will be the lower level and would include a mention of the donor of the product or money, $25 to $75 bracket would include the lower level AND a small add/name on the Tee-shirt, $75 to $150 range would get a bigger add on the Tee, over $150 would be our major sponsors and would have the larger adds and more prominent placings (if there were enough, or a high enough sponsorship, we would consider having one of the game play rooms designated nit eh name of the sponsor). We are looking to parents again to reach out into the community and to the businesses to help with sponsorships. This can be in conjunction with door prizes.
We already have sponsors that are going to provide breakfast foods to sell in the morning, and lunch/snack foods to sell for the remainder of the day!
When we complete registration, we will have a better idea on how long the day will be and will need parents and players to sign up to help supervise and work concessions for short blocks of time.
I think that's it for now. Please begin to gather sponsorships and door prizes and communicate that with me so I can keep track of what we have!
