Practice

I just wanted to touch base and let you know that yesterday went well even though things were moved around a little from when I last saw the equipment.  I think everyone has everything they need but we will continue to monitor the fit of equipment and make adjustments as needed.  We encourage players to purchase their own girdle and mouthpiece, so please try to get that taken care of as soon as possible.  The high school helmets are not back yet from being reconditioned.  We are trying to work out that situation (they were supposed to be back by now), but the high school will still go out in full pads (minus helmet) today to get used to the weight and fit of the equipment even though there will be no contact until we can issue their helmets.  For the middle school, we are a full go today!  Practice for all will be 3:30 to 6:00.

I think everyone that was at practice yesterday and needed a physical got one.  Thanks go to all that helped and that volunteered their time and abilities to getting that done!  You are a blessing!

All players should have gotten a stapled sheet yesterday that explains sign sales/player fees.  Let me know if there are any questions.  They should have also gotten a flyer on the video game tournament.  Pay special attention to the back of the flyer that has some expectations of your participation in this event to help raise some funds to keep our football program afloat.  Again, let me know if there are any questions.

There are a few that were not present yesterday for good reason.  I expect 100% attendance (though I recognize that sometimes things happen) to honor the commitment that you have made to the team.  There are others that are depending on you!  If you were not there to get your equipment or physical, do your best to schedule a physical ASAP and NOT during practice time.  We want you at practice!  Try to get to practice a little early today to get your equipment as well so we can start on time!

I encouraged the players to just say "Thanks!" when they passed an Air Force worker around campus as they draw near completion of their participation on the work they have done on campus.  Please take that opportunity.  We are still feeling the after effects of the tornado.  I'm not sure that anyone understands how close that tornado has come to wiping our football program out completely!  It has been due to the resiliency and support or you that we still survive.  It is going to be a huge shot in the arm and will boost our program dramatically to get moved into the new athletic facility!

Thanks!
