This Thursday we will do the team picture for both middle school and varsity. So the original practice schedule will change. Varsity's typical Thursday walk-through will be delayed and we will hold a full length (till 5:30) practice with the middle school. I feel like this gives us a great opportunity to give the middle school a practice with more individual hands on coaching as well.
I'm looking at offering some morning workouts for some of those players who do not have 7th period P.E. Since we now have some showers it makes it a possibility. I would need a good bit of participation to make it worth it for myself & the players. If your son would be interested in these workouts please let me know. I was looking at Tuesday & Wednesday mornings at 6:15 or 6:30.
I'm still searching for a scoreboard operator for our home games. We can split the duty into Middle & High games if necessary. Either way the person who works it for us will get in the game free along with their family.
As we enter game week there are a few things to take into consideration:
I've always heard a good night before a game meal was spaghetti or something that involved noodles. So I encourage that on Thursday night. The guys already know this from hearing it from us over and over again "Drink WATER!" It's so important due to the heavy humidity to help avoid cramps. Bananas & drinking a little bit of pickle juice helps with this as well.
I've been keeping a close eye on the weather and it's looking like we will have a lot of stormy weather at least at the beginning of the week. We will practice inside if necessary so all the boys need to bring tennis shoes with them.
Also as we enter the season I wanted to let everyone know about our missing practice during the season policy. For every missed practice during the week there will be 8 gassers to be made up upon return. If the absence is not for a good reason, it will be 8 gassers and 15 plays during the game. It is almost impossible to completely prepare for a physical game like football without our full roster during the season so we need everyone to be ready to play.
I've been looking at some different ways to support the guys this week and I'm going to include some artwork that "You Name It" put together for us. If you have facebook or twitter I encourage you to change your profile or banner pic to one of these pics to show the boys we are behind them. Once again thank you for the privilege of coaching your boys!
