Hello everyone! Hope your weekend has been a great one. I'd like to thank Dr. Sain & Dr. Trahin for doing the physicals yesterday. They don't have to offer us that opportunity but they do to help the program and parents. I'm very excited about tomorrow night. "Knight Monday" brings our Summer workout program to a close. I can say that this has been the best attendance we've had as long as I can remember. The veterans have been leaders and the young guys have bought in! As usual the LORD has blessed us greatly.
My goal is to stagger the groups tomorrow night so we can have more coaches per player as they lift and look to meet their goal max weight. We appreciate Mr. Eaton and Coach Whitworth for their help in the weight room this Summer as well. Also by staggering the groups we can invite you in to see how far they've come. We want to make sure the atmosphere is one of excitement and encouragement. You don't have to come but you are welcome. While one group is maxing, the previous group will be getting their equipment for practice. This schedule is flexible if a player needs to come early or later that is fine but please stick to this as close as possible.
5:15-5:30: Senior Meeting
5:30-5:50: Seniors & Juniors MAX
5:55-6:15: Sophomores, Freshmen, 8th Grade MAX/Seniors & Juniors Equip.
6:20-6:40: 6th & 7th MAX/Soph., Freshmen, & 8th Equipment Distribution
6:45-7: 6th & 7th Grade Equipment Distribution
This should get us prepared for our first official practice on Tuesday from 5:30-8 PM. As far as, equipment is concerned we provide practice pants, girdle, girdle/pants pads, shoulder pads, helmet, chin strap & mouth pieces. The only think you'll need to purchase if you don't have any are non-metal tipped cleats. I've been asked which brand of cleat would be best. I'm not particular as long as they are not metal tipped and are our colors (purple, gold), white or black. The same goes for gloves if you decide to get them (GLOVES are NOT required). Some may want to purchase their own girdles and that is ok but make sure there is either a tailbone pad in them or a place to put one. For those of you that may not know what I'm talking about I'll include a picture of one. Some may want to add some padding and they have shirts that can be purchased that pad the shoulder and ribs a little more. I'll add a pic of those as well.
Wanted to touch base about RCA orientation next Tuesday (August 5th). We especially want those who will be in 6th & 9th to go to their orientation meetings. We still want them to be at practice if possible for a little while but we will be flexible. The same goes for the other students and we will dismiss them from practice so they can go at their scheduled times. Thanks!
